On Thursday, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) announced that the 2017 Tubbs fire was caused by privately owned electrical equipment.
Wildfires have caused a lot of damage in recent years…
But what does any of this have to do with trading?
The announcement happened around 3:10 P.M. on Thursday.
Just minutes before, an unknown trader bet BIG on PG&E, the local electrical utility in California.
PG&E was being investigated to see if their equipment was responsible for the fire.
CAL FIRE’s report exonerated them, and as expected, the shares soared.
Between this and another trade attributed to the same person, our “mystery trader” made a profit of almost $8 million dollars.
It’s too soon to tell.
But it goes to show you that the opportunities to win (and win BIG) are out there.
